Eagles, Conowingo Dam

Conowingo Dam is a large hydroelectric dam in the lower Susquehanna River and it just happens to be one of the best places to see the American Bald Eagle east of the Mississippi River.   The dam holds a special interest for me, because my grandfather and uncle left southwest Virginia in the late 1920s to find work on the dam.  Once they found the work to be steady, the rest of the family moved north. And that’s how some of the Lark’s got from Russell County, Virginia to Carroll County, Maryland.   For more family information please visit:   The Lark Family Genealogy of Russell County, Virginia.

Last week was my first attempt to photograph our National Bird.  They soared, they swooped, they fished and I loved it —   My camera(s) and I will be back soon!
